Please see our guidelines for hotel marketers. Please be sure that you do not add the same hotel to multiple articles, and if you are going to remove information, such as the price information you removed here, please replace it with updated information or use the edit "Summary" box to explain why you are removing the price. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 11:54, 19 January 2011 (EST)

Thank you for the info, Ryan!

Note that you should leave city, state and zip out of hotel addresses - they can be inferred from the article. See Project:Accommodation listings for details. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 16:59, 17 March 2011 (EDT)

Please do not remove info on competitors[edit]

Hi Jslipko.

In the San Jose (California) article you recently deleted the Vagabond Inn listing.

Please explain your actions here as this sort of behaviour is not acceptable at Wikivoyage. Unless a suitable explanation is forthcoming further edits by you may be subject to an immediate revert to protect the integrity of existing content.

  • <sleep name="Vagabond Inn" alt="" address="1488 N. First St" directions="near San Jose Airport" phone="+1 800 522-1555" email="" fax="" url="http://www.vagabondinn-san-jose-hotel.com/" checkin="" checkout="" price="">A discount hotel minutes from the airport. 24-hour Denny's restaurant on-site. Pool and spa, free WiFi and continental breakfast. Pet-friendly rooms available.</sleep>

Please ensure you read the article welcome business owners and pay particular attention to the section titled Never remove info on competitors. -- (WT-en) felix 11:11, 18 March 2011 (EDT)

Which hemisphere of the world and continent is the destination in, please check before editing or adding content[edit]

Hi again Jslipko,

You recently added a listing to the Brisbane article.

This is a listing for an accommodation provider in North California USA. Yet you have placed this content into the article on Brisbane the capital city of the state of Queensland in Australia.
It seems clear from your history of contributions that you are either working for or are under contract to someone providing internet marketing services to the Hilton Group. I doubt they will appreciate this sort of thing any more than we do here at Wikivoyage.

Buy a map and please pay some attention to what you are doing and where you are placing content. I boldly suggest that at a bare minimum you check which hemisphere and continent is applicable before you even consider making any more changes to any articles here. -- (WT-en) felix 11:16, 18 March 2011 (EDT)

Hilton Group Properties-Please use standard WT formatting, and do not refer to breakfast as an "amenity"[edit]

I have just gone through all of your edits made today and removed the word "amenities" as this normally refers to a desirable or useful feature or facility of a building or place, not a "hot breakfast", or a "light dinner with beverages". I have also re-format times to XXAM XX:XXPM, 12 noon instead of 12:00 PM. I have added +1 country code. Please read the manual of style before you make another edit. If any further corrective edits are required to your listings it will be difficult to restrain the urge to just remove the listing completely or auto-revert your edits without further adjustments. Please try and edit with more care and attention. -- (WT-en) felix 12:23, 18 March 2011 (EDT)

Wikivoyage is a travel guide, not a business directory or marketing tool[edit]

Advertising[edit]

Wikivoyage is a travel guide, not a business directory or marketing tool, and while we welcome contributions from businesses, editors who add multiple listings that appear to be primarily for advertising or SEO purposes are likely to be reverted en masse. To maintain the quality and integrity of our guides it is expected that contributors working for hotel chains or similar businesses will remember that the traveler comes first and, in addition to the guidelines above, abide by the following guidelines:

  • Format listings correctly. Other editors will fix mistakes made by contributors who add only one or two listings, but if you are adding multiple listings then it is up to you to make sure they adhere to the Wikivoyage style guidelines. You must also include full information, including price ranges, a properly formatted address (do not include city/state/zip) and a useful description of the business.

Contributors who add multiple business listings that do not meet these criteria should unfortunately expect to see those contributions reverted, and in the worst case repeated violations of this policy may lead to blacklisting of the business in question. Additionally, while we welcome contributions from everyone, because the goals of creating a travel guide often differ from those of hotel chains, tourism boards, and other business entities contributors should be aware that there are no guarantees that even properly-formatted listings will always be kept in Wikivoyage guides.

Please pay very close attention to the sections in bold type above. Please go back over ALL of your prior additions and edits and reformat them correctly and remove any content that conflicts with the guidelines indicated above. I have tired of doing work for you that you are clearly being paid to do properly by a major hotel chain. Thank you. -- (WT-en) felix 12:53, 18 March 2011 (EDT)
