Welcome[edit]

Please read the comments that have already been left for you at User talk:74.7.158.162. To this point most of your contributions have been deleted - due to spam issues the criteria for hotel chain listings is fairly high. Specifically:

  • Project:Don't tout. Avoid "our", "we" or "I" in listings, do not add SEO terms to listings, do not use overly promotional language.
  • Don't list nearby destinations. If a hotel is attached to the airport or convention center that's fine, but saying "20 minutes from the airport" is frowned upon.
  • Include at least a minimal amount of useful information. Price ranges are a requirement, and some description other than just "this beautiful hotel is in downtown". See Project:Accommodation listings for examples.

We aren't opposed to having hotel chains list their hotels on Wikivoyage, but those listings need to be useful for travelers and not merely promotional material meant to boost search engine listings. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 17:58, 29 January 2010 (EST)

I apologize, I'm not trying to push these hotels in any promotional way. My focus is to get them on the page with name and link at minimum. I do not have price range list, but I can see about getting one. Any suggestions on how I can list these correctly and to the most use would be appreciated. ---- (WT-en) Omnihoteldirectory

We've had issues with hotel chains hiring companies to dump content on Wikivoyage, and after literally years of trying to work with these companies the resulting consensus was that if Wikivoyage is being used for business purposes and the quality of the listings do not meet a minimum standard they will generally be removed. Your listings are better than most - you are putting them into the correct articles (for the most part) and using the correct formats, but there has still been a need to go back and clean things up. What the minimum requirements would be are:
  1. Hotel name, address, phone number, URL and price range.
  2. Use the sleep listing tag.
  3. A description of the hotel that provides some useful info that would allow a traveler to select it. Don't list nearby attractions or general abstractions like "this business friendly hotel provides excellent service" but instead provide some information about amenities and other information that sets the hotel apart from others. See most of the listings in a high-quality like Chicago/Loop#Sleep for examples.
In addition, anytime you see a blinking red indicator next to your account name in the top-right part of the screen it means someone left a message on your talk page. People here generally very willing to work with you, so ask questions on this page or in the Pub and you'll find most folks willing to help advise. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 18:43, 29 January 2010 (EST)
Also, you can sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes ("~~~~") and that will be automatically converted into a link to your user page and the current date. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 18:44, 29 January 2010 (EST)
You have clearly made an effort and for that, thank you. You might want to suggest to the organisation employing to do this work that they provide you with all the information required - eg prices. Direct them to this discussion if you wish. Thanks again. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 00:41, 30 January 2010 (EST)
