Hi anon user from IP 130.227.70.124 on Tuesday 11 January 2005,

I'm sorry, but we'll have to delete all of the links to your photo gallery. It's not that the pictures aren't nice, it's just we'd rather have them internally than have a link to them. I'm afraid it's the CC by-sa way or the highway at Wikivoyage. Thanks anyhow, and of course please do feel free to upload any of the photos here, anytime. -- (WT-en) Mark 08:53, 11 Jan 2005 (EST)

Please advise[edit]

Hi Mark

I am not sure this is the correct way to respond to your removing our link to pages on topic. I do not understand this policy as an external link to a relevant pages (all the links did go directly to a page about the subject) would make it easier for a visitor looking for information could see some pictures if they want. If I had a hotel and "just" wanted to sell some I can find many links. I do not hope to sell anything but just want the visitor to have the abillity to see pictures on topic if they want.

If that is not interesting please advise on how to add pictures to your system and how I can add them to relevant pages without making the pages to big to load fast. I guess there are some guidelines but I have not found them on/in your system.

Best regards Jens Peter Graphicalic.dk

Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

So out external links policy is Project:External links. Perhaps just as importantly, our goals (Project:Goals and non-goals) are to be a useful printed guide as well as an online guide. We avoid picture galleries, among others, because an online-picture gallery is not useful in a printed guidebook in the field. If you feel like contributing some of your images to this project, first check out that the copyright license we use (Project:copyleft) is acceptible to you. If that works for you, check out Project:Image policy for a bit about images here, and you can then click the Special:Upload to take you to a page which will help you upload the image.

Also, to make it clearer that your image was taken by you, perhaps you could make yourself an account here first by clicking "login or create account" in the upper right corner of any page. Welcome! -- (WT-en) Colin 10:25, 11 Jan 2005 (EST)
