Thank you for contributing entries for your hotel chain. Please be aware that we have a format we prefer you follow. Additional, while we welcome links to your hotel's website, please do not label it with anything; especially do not label it with search-engine friendly terms as that kind of behavior reflects poorly on you. An external link for the hotel should look something like this: [1]. -- (WT-en) Colin 17:02, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Also, please be aware that listings are to be made in the city the hotel resides, not a nearby popular city that you wish it could be listed under. So for example, a listing for a hotel in Treasure Island, Florida should not be placed in the Saint Petersburg (Florida) article. Go ahead and create a new article for Treasure Island since one does not already exist. You'll be prompted to insert a "template", and then you can just to some minimal typing and be on your way. -- (WT-en) Colin 17:06, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Hello, 199.72.72.165! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations. Individual hotels don't normally get their own pages, rather, they are listed under the relevant city page. In the case of the Hyatt Place Portland Airport you created a page for, that could be listed under Portland (Oregon)- but please read Wikivoyage:Welcome, business owners, first. Since Wikivoyage is primarily by and for travellers, don't use "our" to refer to your hotel, as this is considered touting. Thanks, JakeOregon (talk) 21:03, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, an individual hotel would never get its own page, and you need to read welcome, business owners and don't tout. It looks like you have a previous history from 11 years ago of touting, so if you do it again, your posting privileges are likely to be briefly blocked. Thanks. Please understand it would be better if you create a user account and declare your interest in any business. This does not mean exclusion from contributing. If you are open and considerate then you are more lightly to be accepted and not have your edits undone. Other representatives of hotel companies have been allowed to add a number of hotels to multiple pages once we agreed on the tone and content. --Traveler100 (talk) 20:34, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Representatives of Hotels or their agents are not excluded from contributing from this site but if they continue to not identified themselves and continue to tout listings they may be block from the site. Please be open and reasonable, then we will be too. --Traveler100 (talk) 22:33, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

second opinion request on block or not[edit]

Swept in from the pub

Should we block this user or not? User talk:199.72.72.165 could be working for Hyatt or could just be a traveller that uses this brand of hotel (I know I often enter the chains I use on pages). Has in the past added other hotel chains. Just the text is often a little touty or copy of website. Either way considering forcing the issue of them creating a user account declaring if any business interest or not. —The preceding comment was added by Traveler100 (talkcontribs)

This user was already warned, so if they have touted again in any way, they should have been blocked for 24 hours. Continually warning with no block isn't going to produce any good results, especially in cases in which the user in question has never replied to any message to their user talk page. 2nd block - 3 days. Would you like to try for 2 weeks? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:00, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
To the contributor. I actually have little issue with the content you are adding but as it is just for one company you should declare your interest. As you have not replied, blocking again. --Traveler100 (talk) 07:11, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - Sorry for not responding sooner. We manage the SEO strategies for various hotels. We're happy to alter the content that we post for the Hyatt and other hotels to stay within the site's guidelines/rules. Let me know what we can do to continue to add to the site without being blocked. Thanks for working with us. -User 199.72.72.165

Please read and comply with welcome, business owners and don't tout, as suggested above. Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 11:55, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ground Zero thanks for providing this information. I'll relay the message to the rest of the organization and try to ensure that the rest of the team/company complies with what you sent. VizSEO
Please set up a user account in this site for Vizergy Digital Marketing and inform your staff that we welcome business users but touting is not welcome. Do we need to contact your management or the clients your are working for to get this point across? --Traveler100 (talk) 17:35, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You're now blocked for 3 months. You are essentially a block-on-sight account now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:05, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
