Hello, 2600:387:A:9:0:0:0:5A! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.

I agree with you that there are loads of nice conservative people in the U.S., just as there are loads of nice liberal people here. That said, is this text which you deleted in the Nashville guide untrue? "Unlike the more conservative suburbs surrounding it, the city of Nashville is more accepting of alternative sexualities and lifestyles." Do you think the conservative suburbs of Nashville, which - correct me if I'm operating under a misimpression - are quite socially and not merely economically conservative - accept gay, transgendered and other alternative lifestyles just as much as Nashville does? We absolutely want to avoid stereotypes at Wikivoyage, but we do want to provide useful information for visitors. The standards of this site are be fair and the traveller comes first, and if those standards require offending someone's sensibility, we should - again, only if there is no other way to accurately impart the information - offend someone's sensibility.

I'll await your reply with interest and look forward to working with you.

All the best,

I should also mention that I reverted your edit to Indianapolis and mostly reverted your edit to Milwaukee. You can see my edit summaries here, here and here. There are absolutely great Christian Right folks, but most gay travelers are not visiting for 2 years or even 2 months, so they won't have the chance to get to know a lot of conservative residents of Milwaukee suburbs personally. They need to know what kind of situation they'll be dealing with as short-term travelers, and that means letting them know that a given area is socially conservative, so they should be circumspect in their behavior there. That's not about insulting Christian conservatives as people. Remember, in a travel guide, the traveler - not the resident - comes first. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:55, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
