Hello, Abdallah-wang! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

All the best,

Copyright violation[edit]

I had to revert all this text because it was copied and pasted from the VIVA Travel Guide on Latacunga, without even a word of credit (not that that would be sufficient). Read Wikivoyage:Copyleft#Can I copy text and other content to Wikivoyage from other sites?, please. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:08, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Laguna Quilotoa were reverted for the same reason. I'm concerned that you may have done uncredited copying from Wikitravel, http://www.aeropuertoquito.aero/en/transportation/aeroservicios-direct-bus-service.html and perhaps other sites in your edits to Quito. Can you assure us that that is not the case? If not, it will be necessary to revert these edits, too, and very soon.
Some subsidiary points: Do not change 1st-order subtitles (such as changing "Do" to "Activities"), as they are part of article templates used throughout the site, and read Wikivoyage and Wikitravel for some background on the hostile relationship between the sites that makes it even more important not to avoid Wikitravel's copyright by engaging in uncredited copypasta from there of text other than anything you wrote yourself on that site. You ignored your user talk page, and now you're committed copyright violation in yet another article, Ambato, and your posting privileges except on this user talk page have been blocked for 2 hours, to try to get your attention. Your edits to Quito will be reverted right away. If you continue committing acts of copyright violation, it will be necessary to block your account longer. We need for you to read this page and assure us that you will stop copying and pasting content from other sites, especially those without Creative Commons copyleft. - OK, I would not do any change though the tips from other websites which been proved as valid by me and my friends but still missed/wrong in wikivoyage if no CC authorization. —The preceding comment was added by Abdallah-wang (talkcontribs)

There are legal as well as policy questions here that supersede issues of accuracy. But that said, you can use other sites as bases for summarizing and paraphrasing information, if you do it judiciously. Just don't copy and paste, especially from non-CC sites.
