Hello AnjanBorah! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

Thanks for starting an article about Golaghat. However, there's a problem: There's too much content from w:Golaghat, and you didn't mention that in your edit summary. I thought of deleting the article as being in violation of Wikipedia's Creative Commons Copyleft and Wikivoyage's Copyleft policy, but you did make a real effort to avoid exactly verbatim quoting for paragraphs at a time, so I think it's a borderline case for deletion. Therefore, I'd request for you to please summarize and, failing that, further paraphrase content sourced from Wikipedia, keeping in mind the differences in style and goals between an encyclopedia (which provides a dense accounting of facts) and a travel guide (which presents background information in a lively tone and otherwise gives the reader information of specific use to travelers). Let me know if you'd like any help with anything.

All the best,
