Hi. Your article titled "North American Golf and Poker Challenge" was deleted per what is an article and because it was horribly formatted. I'm guessing you're a spambot, but if not, please reply to this post and have a look at Gambling to see whether there's a way to include the information in that article. Hello Ikan Kekek, I am not a spambot, I am very new to wikipedia. I am trying to write and get posted a page that should be considered an information page for the North American Golf and Poker Challenge. I am not sure that it would fit with "Gambling" the ultimate prize of the challenge is two paid seats to the World Series of Poker, but the journey to get there is primarily playing golf.Jane Course (talk) 12:43, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Jane, and thanks for replying. Sorry for my blunt comment above: We get a fair number of spam posts that have weird formatting; substantial percentage of them are about gambling and almost all the rest are trying to sell something, and I had thought yours was one of them. The thing is, not everything is sufficiently travel-related to fit on this site (this is Wikivoyage, not Wikipedia). Also, some things are too specific: I think you should have a look at the "What is an article" page to see how the golf and poker challenge might or might not fit. I could see it conceivably fitting only as an itinerary, perhaps (though I have my doubts); it doesn't seem broad enough to be a travel topic. But have a look at that page and then make an argument about what you would put in an article that could fit within the possible scope of this site. I'll be looking for your reply.
Also, keep in mind another possibility: That if there are specific locations where the challenge is taking place, it might be possible to mention the challenge - briefly and in a non-touty way - in the relevant existing articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:54, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
