UNESCO

Well done on Europe. That seems to be the longest of all the continents! I've done Africa and Asia and think I might move them to the main article now, as all the content needed has been extracted. You and Globe-trotter can feel free to move your continents whenever they're done, which is looking like soon. I know there are inconsistencies all over the place, but we can iron most of them out later once the list is done. For now, I'm just making sure that each site has an (approximate) location. A long-term goal would be writing content for each site in the article it belongs. Also, about sites like the Belfries of France and Belgium, once we move to the WMF, there's the possibility of installing the collapsible extension, which would make things much easier. Until then, maybe we can create a travel topic and just shove them all in there, linking from the table? Thanks! JamesA ^>talk 09:59, 29 September 2012 (CEST)

Collapsible tables would be great! For the belfries we can make a travel topic but I don't really know anything about them and most of them are in towns that don't have an article...

I'm almost ready to move to the article. I see we took kind of different approach to the "Location" part, my nerdism kicked in and I wanted the sort function to allow checking easily how many sites there are in particular area of a country. (edit conflict) Regarding Russia, maybe keep it all in Europe, but have a header in the Asia section that will redirect users back up to the European header. I also find it seriously strange to list Siberian sites in Europe, but I'm going by what's official: [1]. The link lists Kamchatka in the 'EUR' region (strangely enough, the EUR region includes North America as well!). In terms of Turkey, I'm not sure. I would've thought Asia too, but the UNESCO site says 'EUR'. Then again, we don't have to follow official rules and can chuck them both in Asia if it will benefit the traveller.

Yeah, I see we did kind of do different things with Location!! That's okay though, we can work on it later. I was confused myself while going through the sites. For example, look at Lebanon. For 4 of the sites, the Name and Location columns are exactly the same! Seems a bit odd but wasn't sure what else to do. JamesA ^>talk 10:21, 29 September 2012 (CEST)

Deletions in Region articles

I noticed you are deleting a lot of Sleep listings in Region articles. You might notice the suggestion in the "movelistings" tag it that these "should be moved to the appropriate city articles". It does take a lot more work to move them then deleting. But in my opinion moving is a much better solution then deleting as we are trying to organize and add content, not remove valuable listings. In some cases you may find there is not a city article where you can move the listing. I would suggest in that case you look into creating an article. It took a good amount of my time to create an article for Fieberbrunn, to move a listing you deleted from the Tyrol region, but I believe new valuable information was provided and valuable information was not removed. I would suggest if you are not going to move them, then leave them for the high energy editor to take care of. Hi, I removed them because they were added by a one user who was asked multiple times not to include sleep listings without rates and description on regional level (even got a temporary block for that) and who came back today. Again, thanks for all your efforts. I would say if they are valid listings leave them and if they are in a Region page be sure and add the "movelistings" tag. I should point out, all my comments are my personal beliefs and may not necessarily Wikivoyage policy. My belief is it is better to have a blank outline template for a place so other visitors have an outline to use to add information then to delete, that said I don't believe we should randomly go adding blank templates. I also believe even the smallest places deserve a listing as you never know where a traveler will visit. It is my hope we can take Wikivoyage to a higher level and make it "the" site that travelers will visit for all their travel information. I am not familiar with referencing by stating a website in the text, so I must leave that to you. But note that there is an alarm among the list of references. sleep listings should go in districts

Hello, You revereted my contribution in the article about Jerusalem. I've added a famous hostel to the "Sleep" section, but you reverted it, explaining: "sleep listings should go in districts". Hi! Jerusalem is one of the articles that became big enough to be "districtified" (divided into smaller chunks, like Berlin or Rio de Janeiro) and after that moment all individual listing should be moved to these districts and the main article should contain brief overview. Unfortunately, we lack a knowledgeable contributor who would move restaurants and hotels to appropriate districts from the main article, but still, all new listings should go to appropriate districts (that's what it says on the top of sleep section as well). red link cleanup
