Hello, KelintonFelder! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

In case you are an owner of or are employed as a publicist for Oaks, please also read welcome, business owners and don't tout. Your listings so far have conformed admirably to this site's guidelines against touting, but I would caution that it might not be appropriate or in the obvious interest of travellers for you to add a listing to every single Oaks property that is let as serviced apartments. If you are working for Oaks, I would suggest that the best procedure for prospective new listings would be for you to propose them on the relevant article's Talk page, explaining why the property is important to travellers to list. You should also state on your user page that you work for Oaks, if you do.

We have one user who's a publicist who showed such clear and complete commitment to site policy over a period of months that we exceptionally made him an Autopatroller (essentially, a trusted user whose posts don't need close scrutiny). I see that as a possibility in your future, if you emulate him. He hasn't been very active lately, but you can see his user page at User:VerbInteractive.

Please let me know if you have any questions; just reply below if you do.

All the best,

Hi Ikan, Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. I'm not an employ of Oaks but you can say I have interests in it and some other properties. Do you think it is OK to add a single property for a destination.? that is to say Oaks has multiple properties in major cities like brisbane for example but instead of adding all of'em is it advisable to add one each. There are some destinations that has no single hotel listed as well where I hope listing a property will be useful for travelers. Thanks for the advice on listing in talk pages and i'll checj that up.

G;Day!

Thanks for your reply. My feeling is that it's probably OK, but how many cities are we talking about? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:06, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
About 18 destinations. :) User:KelintonFelder
That's a large number. I think you should make an argument in each article's talk page for why it's important for travellers to list Oaks in that destination. If you get a consensus behind your proposal, you can provide a proposed listing on the article's talk page. That's the procedure specified for marketers in Wikivoyage:Don't tout:
Because there is an inherent conflict of interest when someone is being paid for their edits, if you are working for a hotel chain, a marketing agency, or a similar organization then you may not add listings for that business to Wikivoyage articles. Wikivoyage is not a yellow pages, so adding every individual location for a hotel brand or restaurant chain is not an appropriate use of this site. If a hotel is truly exceptional, or if a city has a very limited number of lodging options available, you may propose a listing to be added by suggesting it on the article's talk page, but do not add the listing yourself.
I realize you are not a marketer, but you have a financial interest in the property, so I think it's really best for you to use this procedure.
All the best,

Citadines, et al.[edit]

It looks like you and some co-workers(?) have an interest in these properties, too? I'm going to revert this listing. At the very least, you need to avoid vague expressions like "minutes away" and location touting in general, but I outlined the procedure you should follow just above, which is to propose new listings on the relevant talk pages and not put them into the article.
