Hello, Nihil7! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

Hi! Thank you very much for your Oahu edits, just one note: Policies restricts us to max. nine cities named in each articles. As you added more, i have to revert your change in the City section. You can change but write you reasoning before on the article talk page to avoid any edit warring. Regards, jan (talk) 08:59, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jan, thanks for the guidelines, looking forward to contributing and getting a better understanding of those policies.Nihil7 (talk) 10:53, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nihil7, thank you very much for your great work in Lanai and Molokai. Are you a local? It's great to see that someone takes care of islands that are of the beaten track. Have a great weekend, jan (talk) 10:09, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jan, I've lived on Oahu for the last nine years and like to visit the neighbor islands. They all have something to offer, even those off the beaten path! Have a nice weekend. Nihil7 (talk) 03:45, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Nihil7. Your edits are great! However, one small thing: There are certain kinds of sites that can't be linked to, and you can find them specified at the page about Wikivoyage's external links policy. That's why I edited some of the content in the Maui guide. I realize these restrictions can sometimes be annoying, but the main reason for them is so that more information is put in our guides, rather than referred to off-site. One of Wikivoyage's missions is for us to write guides that can be used effectively as printouts by people who for whatever reason don't have access to the internet while they're on the go.
All the best, Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:33, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ikan_Kelek, thanks for the guidance. I completely understand the need for the restrictions and thought the links I provided were within the guidelines, but I must have missed something. If you don't mind, could you help me to understand the policy better by specifying which link(s) should not have been added to the page? I looked at the Maui golf & scuba links but didn't notice any that had been removed/revised. Thanks again & keep up the good work! Nihil7 (talk) 01:10, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. You can see my edits here: [1]. One of the policies is not to link to any other guide of any kind, although official tourism pages by governments, such as city, regional, state, or national governments, can be linked at the beginning of a page. And thanks for the props. :-) Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:19, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
