When travelling, ask your GPS service, such as Waze, for the map, but check it with locals before hitting the road.

Beware while travelling using GPS services such as Waze. As they are quite trustworthy, people tend to go ahead and trust the directions too much. But, you may get into serious trouble either opting for the "shortest" or the "fastest" way as the route can lead into dangerous areas. It did happen in Rio de Janeiro where cars ended up crossing the Favelas - slum areas. You can get in very serious trouble. Even life threatening. Probably this is valid for other countries also. Also, the direction of streets can change and it will take some time for the GPS to updated, which can make you get in trouble.
