Wikivoyage talk:How to upload files

Okay, maybe I'm an idiot, but I was just working on some map symbols, and I can upload the raster (png) just fine, but when I go to upload the vector (svg) the upload page returns that "".svg" is not a recommended image file format" and won't upload it. Obviously, there are already some svg files on the server, so there must be some way around this, but I can't figure it out. -(WT-en) Neil C 02:32, 31 Aug 2004 (EDT)

The normal way, except it's busted right now. There's a conversation about it on Project:Bug reports -- (WT-en) Mark 08:05, 31 Aug 2004 (EDT)

Wikimedia Commons[edit]

Is there any way to link to an image on Wikimedia Commons, rather than copy the image here? --66.167.135.37 15:54, 24 June 2008 (EDT)

how to rename image[edit]

> type a name (no spaces please) that's descriptive

I wonder how can I rename shared:Image:184156380.jpg into Image:DenisYurkin.jpg. Move doesn't work for me:

Source or destination title is of a special type; cannot move pages from and into that namespace.

Redirected to shared[edit]

I removed the merge template and just redirected to wts:How to upload files, since any information here that differed from the policy there was outdated. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 19:37, 12 December 2008 (EST)

Redirect again[edit]

This seems all outdated and superceded. Detailed guidance is now at Wikivoyage:Image policy and Wikivoyage:Non-free content, with pointers to Commons' instructions at special:upload and Wikivoyage:Upload file (the sidebar link). Could we redirect this to Wikivoyage:Upload file? --Peter Talk 19:50, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please redirect it. The more we can consolidate our policy/instruction pages the better, IMHO. We may also need to clean up incoming links - Special:WhatLinksHere/Wikivoyage:How to upload files. -- Ryan • (talk) • 20:01, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
