Čičmany (German Zimmermannshau, Hungarian Csicsmán) is a village in Central Slovakia.

Understand[edit]

Čičmany is one of the few folk villages which remain intact in Central Europe. It represents a local vernacular style of architecture characterized by the use of dark wood and its white ornamentation in floral patterns similar to gingerbread. This is still a living tradition and such houses are drawn over again and again.

The is a sparse bus connection from Rajecke Teplice. Otherwise it is a 30-40 minutes drive from Žilina.

The village is small and manageable on foot.
