How can I send you a potential code change for a requested feature?[edit]

I'm working on, and almost done with, an update to handle a feature request I made, which can now be found at Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Feature requests/Archive 12#Allow on-site saving of lists. This will involve a new form (2 files), as well as some changes to a few other source files. What's the best way to handle it? עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:42, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with AutoWikiBrowser[edit]

Hello, I noticed a problem with AutoWikiBrowser. For example, the article Star Wars has a problem on the WikiCode of this article. The problem with WikiCode here is that apostrophes block italics. Look at this sentence: (Star Wars: special edition)

[...] the episode IV, while, in the episode V, the Emperor [...].

Then look at his WikiCode. Don't you see a problem? Well that's what happened with the article I quoted. Only a line break can fix this problem (for now). How else to solve this problem? LéoFatal (talk) 12:28, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at your global contributions, I've worked out that you are talking about the French Wikipedia article, fr:Star Wars. I've made an edit there, adding <nowiki /> at various points so that the three adjacent apostrophe marks, ''' are interpreted as a single apostrophe plus the start of an italic word. This is not an AutoWikibrowser problem - any editor or editing tool will do this, since ''' is the trigger for turning bold on or off. -- John of Reading (talk) 13:18, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request to help development[edit]

@Reedy and Rjwilmsi: I have several open bug reports/feature requests in Phabricator, some of which I might be able to do fix myself. For example, I could add more templates in TalkPageFixes.cs lines 237-244. Would you guys be willing to let me help out in a probationary way? GoingBatty (talk) 20:46, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that would be great if you can create patches (SVN diff) of changes that you have made and tested, including unit tests in the patch. Rjwilmsi 18:34, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Rjwilmsi: Thanks for your reply. I've made an account on SourceForge, and can download a file and edit it. Could you please give me a more detailed list of instructions? GoingBatty (talk) 18:14, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Rjwilmsi: Pinging again... GoingBatty (talk) 20:24, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I know that you mean well and have been a consistent valuable contributor to AWB and wider Wikipedia for many years. However that level of dev support is what I do for my day job. I'm not willing to spend my free time doing more of the same. It is nothing against you, just a matter of my own work/life balance and how I am willing to spend my free time.
