Haneda Airport Map

[edit]

The map listed in the article has bullet points to lodgings located around the airport. The numbers for each location may appear confusing in a couple of months when the International Terminal is renamed Terminal 3; some of the pins may then be confused for the terminal buildings. Thoughts are welcome... Could pins be created for each of the terminal buildings as well? I'm not skilled in the maps department to make this happen. JRHorse (talk) 00:46, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

The map shows one hotel outside the airport, and only when you zoom out or click on it. All three airport terminals are very clearly shown as buildings of different colors that are specified in Tokyo Haneda Airport#Flights, so putting additional pins in those buildings would only be confusing, as each one also has a hotel either within or right next to it. So I don't see any obvious reason to change anything about the map. Do you think the listing for the hostel that's a couple of km outside the airport should be removed? If so, let's discuss that, as I'm not certain we've ever established fully clear standards for whether and when it's OK to list anything outside airports or how far outside them in airport articles. I must respectfully disagree. The first thing that I look at on the map are the numbers (for the hotels), not the terminal colors. JRHorse (talk) 02:34, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
If anything perhaps the locators for the hotels should come out. JRHorse (talk) 02:50, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
How do you propose for people to find the hotels on the map, in that case? Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:04, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I agree with JRHorse that the current map is a bit confusing—the problem is that a reader unfamiliar with our formatting might think the hotel labels are terminal numbers. Putting additional pins for the terminals would be one solution. An alternative would be to add some restaurants and other listings with markers, which would help make it clear that the markers are not terminal numbers but rather something else. —Granger (talk · contribs) 05:35, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I've solved the immediate problem by putting the hotels in alphabetical order, which coincidentally happens to make them match up with the terminal numbers. Maybe this coincidental solution is good enough for now, what do you two think? —Granger (talk · contribs) 05:39, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sure. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:12, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
It works for now, but eventually it would be nice if the map had some sort of disambiguation besides the colors. JRHorse (talk) 13:33, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
