Bazhong is a prefecture city in Sichuan. In 2020, the prefecture had a population of 2.7 million, with about a million in Bazhou district, the centre of the city.

Bazhong City, also known as Bacheng, is located in the northeastern part of Sichuan Province. It is located in the Daba mountainous area, adjacent to the Qinling-Huaihe River line. It is adjacent to Dazhou City in the east, Nanchong City in the south, Guangyuan City in the west and Hanzhong City in Shaanxi Province in the north. The terrain of the region is high in the north and low in the south, with a subtropical monsoon climate and four distinct seasons.

  • 6 Southern Cliff Buddhist Sculptures (南龛摩崖造像), Nankan Mountain, 5 km south of the city (Taxi or drive). These stone carvings began in the Sui Dynasty and continued through the Tang Dynasty, and along with the Song Dynasty continued through the Republican era, very interesting to see some of the stone statues and learn about history through them.   • Tongjiang silver tree-ear fungus (通江银耳), Tongjiang County. Bazhong is the birthplace of the silver fungus, known as the hometown of China's silver fungus, cooking is quite delicious, especially silver fungus soup. Available in local supermarkets and other speciality shops. ¥60.
  • JiangKouChun wine (江口醇酒), Available in local shopping centres. Bazhong's own locally produced baijiu, worth a try! ¥20-600.
  • Luo Cun tea (罗村茶), Available in supermarkets. Local speciality tea of Pingchang County, with a taste similar to green tea. ¥60.
  • Nanjiang yellow sheep (南江黄羊). Famous for the taste of its meat due to its unique rearing method, you can see many lamb shops advertising discounted Nanjiang yellow sheep on the streets in winter. ¥2000.
  • Pyeongchang XiaoJiaoLou (平昌小角楼), Available in most supermarkets. An old local white wine. Inexpensive. ¥20-40.
  • Bashan ginkgo (tree with fan-shaped leaves and yellow seeds) (巴山银杏). Because of its unique geographical characteristics, as a ginkgo suitable for growing areas of high nutritional value of the white fruit, you can buy a taste! ¥80.

  • 2 Grandma's Pot Rice (Jiangbei Avenue) (阿婆罐罐饭(江北大道店)), No.378, Middle Section of Jiangbei Avenue, Jiangbei Street, Bazhou District, +86 (0827)5553328. 10:00-14:00,17:00-21:00. A small, ordinary restaurant in an obvious location, but with great flavours, Szechuan cuisine, rice made in a casserole tastes great and is not too expensive. ¥50.
  • 3 QianGuo Xin (Main Store) (千果鑫(总店)), Approx. 110 metres north-east of No. 4 Primary School, Wenquan Lane, Bazhou District, toll-free: +86 18782733110. 10:00-14:00, 17:00-21:00. The food is plentiful and slightly heavy on the flavours. Famous for its ribs in dry pots, goose palms, etc., but also a lot of soup pots, which have been open locally for many years, with several branches. ¥120.
  • 4 Li Tangyuan Speciality Snacks (李汤圆特色小吃), 88 Nanquansi Street, Bazhong. 08:00-14:00,17:00-20:00. It's an old shop that's been open for 20 or 30 years, specialising in noodles and rice noodles, as well as soup dumplings, which are tasty and inexpensive. ¥15.

A small restaurant with two floors, to every meal time business is very hot, their speciality is limited daily stews, the soup is very good, other stir-fry dishes are also good. ¥50.
