Morere is a locality at the base of the Mahia Peninsula in northern Hawke's Bay, on the North Island of New Zealand, and is known for its hot springs.

Understand

[edit]

Morere is 40 km northeast of Wairoa and 60 km southwest of Gisborne, by road. It is a convenient stopping point for drivers to have a rest break before or after driving the demanding 40 km section of road over the Morere and Wharerata Hills, which have long steep grades, tight corners, few passing places and even fewer roadside service areas, with nothing more significant than a picnic table or a rubbish bin.

Get in

[edit]

Most access is by road. Morere is on State Highway 2, 8 km inland from Nuhaka and the turnoff to the Mahia Peninsula.
