Guide and FTT?

[edit]

We haven't had a driving article as FTT in a while. Also, except for Inca trail which will show up on the Main Page in a month we've never ran any topics from South America.

So, does this article already cover everything that's important to know about driving in Brazil (it does look quite extensive) or is there still something missing? ϒpsilon (talk) 13:49, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I had a look at the articles in Driving#Destinations, and took notes of what topics were covered in them (what headings they included). As a side note, as we have almost 20 "Driving in [country]" articles, it could be good to have some logical and consistent order for the content to make articles easier to read. As of now, I think there aren't two driving articles that have the content in the same order.
Anyway, these are the topics that driving articles seem to include:
  • Understand
  • Road network
  • Road rules and signage
  • Licenses
  • City driving (including parking, congestion) vs highway and rural driving
  • Challenging areas such as mountains or outback
  • Night driving
  • Authorities (drunk driving, checkpoints, accidents)
  • Fuel
  • Tolls
  • Children
  • Stay safe
  • Rental
  • Itineraries
Most of this is at least touched upon in this article. If there are some peculiarities about renting a car or some places with additional challenges (North and West of the country I presume?), or if there are some notable driving itineraries, those things are still not mentioned. But the article is in other words already in a pretty good shape. Pinging Ibaman for some local knowledge and comments. :) -- ϒψιλον (talk) 19:36, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
I tried to reorganize the information a little bit as follows;
Understand including basic/theoretical information, maybe a map of the road network could go here.
Signs and regulations — things the reader should read up on before driving, also a bit theoretical.
Drive including phenomena and behavior you will encounter when you drive as well as things that every driver will need (fuel, parking).
Stay safe with stuff you should watch out for and luckily most drivers don't need to deal with.
after this there could be Itineraries and See also.
If this sounds like a logical order, it could become a standard for organizing the other driving articles as well. ϒψιλον (talk) 16:14, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
And are there some iconic, especially scenic or otherwise important routes in Brazil that are destinations in their own right, like the Route 66? If there are, they could be mentioned in a "Itineraries" section. -- ϒψιλον (talk) 10:33, 3 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
