A town in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, Gobardanga, has a wide prevailing history. Gobardanga had been governed by Brahmin Zamindars of bharadwaj gotra in pre-old days. Their descendants still reside in their ancestral home and maintaining all regulations, worship Goddess Durga as per their tradition during the Durga Puja days.

  • 2 Prasannamoyee Kali Temple. Established by then Zamindar Kaliprasanna Mukhopadhyay, the temple faced southwards has Goddess Kali along with 12 other shrines of Lord Shiva distributed into 6 shrines on either side of the temple.   • 1 Thakurnagar. A small town famous for "Baruni Mela". There are some big markets which play an important role in its economy. Apart from that, you can find a flower market, probably the second largest of the state. You can visit the Thakurbari at Sridham Thakurnagar with 3,000,000-3,500,000 devotees in March or April every year. You can roam around the town during the day and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
