Get around[edit]

See[edit]

A 10-minute walk from Agia Marina is the Ellinokamara Cave, where the islanders used to hide from marauding pirates.

Outside of the main town, Panagia has old sea captain's residences, and Ammoua is perfect for watching the sunset.

Do[edit]

Religious festivals[edit]

Church fetes, with their free food and wine, are always important occasions. The biggest are on July 17, for the feast of Saint Marina, on August 6 for the Metamorphosis of Sotiros (the Transfiguration of Christ), on August 15 for the Panagia (Assumption Day), and on August 27 for Agios Fanourios the Martyr and Miracle Worker. Join the fun, listen to the music from the lyre and lute, learn to dance the local sousta and much on local delicacies.

Beaches[edit]

The third of three beaches in Antiperato is the least crowded and shaded by sheer rocks. Across from it lies the islet of Armathia, which has one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean.
