What and where else to mention[edit]

This article is barely an Outline. Please help by sharing your knowledge, as there are Art Deco buildings all over the world, and this is really a vast topic. Do you have some favorite Art Deco buildings in your city, or did you enjoy some in some cities you've visited? Please mention the name of the city and the name of the building.

For example, it looks like there are some nice Art Deco buildings in Montreal (including the Roger Gaudry Building at Université de Montréal) and Toronto. Which ones are most worth mentioning? Which French cities have particularly notable Art Deco buildings that might be worth a special trip or a detour, to use Michelin terminology? What about South American countries other than Argentina? Australia? Indian and Pakistani cities? Etc. I'll add more when I can, but I simply don't have expertise on every city and town with notable Art Deco buildings that are worth a traveler's notice, though that didn't stop me from starting this article. So, to take one example, how much Art Deco architecture is there in India? I came across this nice photo of one Art Deco building in Mumbai. Are there more prominent ones? Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:09, 17 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Confusing text on Angola[edit]

"In addition to beautiful colonial architecture, the Portuguese rule left behind many Art Deco buildings in the country"

I don't understand. The Art Deco buildings were obviously a type of colonial architecture in Angola. What distinction is supposed to be made, and could it be clarified? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:39, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think I am the one who made that contribution. I don't know the relevant architectural terms, but by "colonial architecture", I tried to convey the Mediterranean-ish, maybe partly neo-classical-influenced buildings similar to those seen in this Google Images search; I presume similar architecture can be found in many parts of the world colonised by the Iberians, and is simply known as "colonial architecture". Luanda is reportedly better (relatively speaking) known for this kind of architecture by the outsiders, but there is likely as much art deco from the latter period of the Portuguese rule to be found there, hence my wording. Please update as you see fit. Vidimian (talk) 16:09, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
How about this?
"In addition to beautiful colonial architecture of earlier styles for which Luanda is famous, the Portuguese also left behind many Art Deco buildings in the country" Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:14, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sounds great. Vidimian (talk) 22:34, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Done, slightly tweaked for context. Thanks for working with me. :-) Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:08, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
My pleasure. You have always been one of the contributors here that I've found working with most enjoyable. Vidimian (talk) 23:32, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
