Star nomination discussion[edit]

Archived from Project:Star nominations:

Here's a great neighborhood in an improperly often overlooked American city. I'm feeling pretty happy with the article, and think it should hold up through the nomination process. It would be the first Baltimore star, on the path to starring the city guide itself! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 14:14, 15 August 2011 (EDT)

I wish I had your eye for what makes a readable map. Just a couple of notes: I don't know that it's necessary to have subheadings in "Sleep", since there are only five listings. And it appears a little awkward to have two different kinds of subheadings in "Eat": two by cuisine and three by price; it's not immediately obvious how they interact with each other. Superb. Especially love the map and I think that this is the standard we should all strive for when drawing district maps. I would agree that the sleep section does not really need splitting. On the eat section I think the preamble makes it clear enough and I like the way it has been split. Oh, support in case that was not clear :).--(WT-en) Burmesedays 09:51, 16 August 2011 (EDT)
  • Support. I'm jealous of your map, now I have the urge to remake some older ones of mine.. Anyway, I still have a few questions. The Do section lists the Fells Point Ghost Tours—does this comply with our Tours policy? About the map, it says "Fell's Point" twice which I think is a bit confusing. And finally, I agree with LtPowers' notes of the Eat and Sleep sections. --(WT-en) globe-trotter 10:16, 16 August 2011 (EDT)
I'm ambivalent towards that ghost tour listing. I do feel that it doesn't pass muster per tour, but I can't work up any hostility towards it. And thanks for all the map compliments! It was a tricky one. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:08, 22 August 2011 (EDT)

Closed listings[edit]

  • <eat name="Obrycki's" alt="" address="1727 E Pratt St" directions="" phone="+1 410 732-6399" email="" fax="" url="http://obryckis.com" hours="March-Nov: M-Th 11:30AM-10PM, F-Sa 11:30AM-11PM, Su 11:30AM-9:30PM" price="$18-50, crabs by market price (not cheap)">Ask your hotel concierge where to have Maryland-style crabs, and Obrycki's will likely be the first word to pass through their lips. The crab house dates back to 1944, which later expanded to be a first rate seafood house, more generally. Still, though, the crabs are the local stars. Obrycki's does not use the typical Maryland Old Bay seasoning you'll find all over the state—it's too old school for that. Back ih the day, every crab house used their own spice, and Obrycki's is using the same black pepper based spice they always have. Closed in the winter, since they only serve fresh local seafood! 2011 is, believe it or not, Obrycki's last year before they close their doors for good, so it would be good to make a visit before it's too late!</eat>

  • <eat name="La Cazuela" alt="" address="1718 Eastern Ave" directions="" phone="+1 410 522-9485" email="" fax="" url="" hours="11AM-10PM daily" price="$8-45">Ecuadorian food! Similar to Peruvian food, ever-divey Cazuela has some really hard-to-find dishes on the menu, most notably cuy for a wild $40, the incredibly delicious food of the Incan kings (fried guinea pig, to be exact). The churrasco platter is a prime choice for a big appetite—an enormous skirt steak with fried egg, guacamole, plantains, and just about everything else. Ceviche is another great option, particularly if your appetite is not so gargantuan.</eat>

Protect this article[edit]

Looking at the article history, as of lately this article has been a place for a vandal (the "steward hater") to attack another user. I suggest the article should be protected to prevent such behavior. ϒψιλον (talk) 15:15, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Done I didn't know about this comment when I did it, actually, just seemed like the page should be semi-protected. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 15:18, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The vandal's mean user name should, if possible, also be hidden. Perhaps Andre or Ikan have the powers to do that? -- ϒψιλον (talk) 15:39, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's already been ghidden and glocked by stewards. Thanks! Praxidicae (talk) 15:42, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
