Talk:Changbai Mountains

This article has substantial duplicated content from Baekdu Mountains a top level region of North Korea and yet is breadcrumbed to the city of Baishan in Jilin province of China. Obviously, a bit of a mess. Can someone who better understands the geography of the region please explain how we should handle this? --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:05, 14 July 2011 (EDT)

Actually this was the Baekdu Mountains article itself, moved twice by User:(WT-en) 虞海 without any discussion. In addition, Korean name was replaced with Manchu one, and a redundant breadcrumb to a Chinese region/city was added. I'd suggest reverting all recent edits to this article and moving this back to Baekdu Mountains to save the attribution history. – (WT-en) Vidimian 11:11, 14 July 2011 (EDT)

Thanks Vidimian. I think I see what has happened. I have already copied all the content back to Baekdu Mountains but, as you say, reverting all edits to save the attribution history is the better way to go. Can I leave that with you to handle? It needs no more discussion I think as it should never have happened in the first place.

Then there is the question of what to do with Changbai Mountains, which may be a valid article in itself. I believe this is the Chinese side of the same mountain range? Could it be an article bread-crumbed to Jilin?--(WT-en) Burmesedays 20:26, 14 July 2011 (EDT)

Not sure if Changbai Mountains qualifies as an article. We already have Changbaishan National Nature Reserve article, which is perhaps the most well-travelled spot of the Chinese side of the mountain range. I think we might need 虞海's (or someone else's who knows the area well) opinion on whether to keep this as an article or just make it a redirect to Baekdu Mountains, but that might pose some problems as well. Even if we keep this as an article, I'm not sure where to breadcrumb it to, as, according to Wikipedia, it spans several provinces, Jilin being one of them. – (WT-en) Vidimian 03:04, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

Last edits reverted and the page moved (which makes Changbai Mountains a redirect to Baekdu Mountains for the time being). However, I kept this discussion page at where it stands now, as this is more of a discussion about Changbai Mountains page, rather than the North Korean region. – (WT-en) Vidimian 03:14, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
