Gramphu : a small town on the way down from the Rohtang Pass. The main road bifurcates here into two. The Road running west carries on to Keylong and to Leh further west. The road running east connects Gramphu to Kinnaur in east Himachal Pradesh.

Chhatru : a small town in the valley of the Chandra river in the Trans Himalayas.

Bataal : a small town in the valley of the Chandra river before the ascent to cross the Kunzum Pass

Kaza : The Spiti district headquarters.

Tabo : A small town on the banks of the Spiti River. It houses one of the oldest monasteries in Buddhism. It is rumoured that The present Dalai Lama has expressed a desire to retire in Tabo.
