Florida lighthouses[edit]

There were many lighthouses listed with no link nor any details, as a result of merging Florida lighthouses here. I think the list was of little use and just cluttered the article. It might be valuable for researching the topic, but for that finding the original page or this revision should be enough. I now pruned the list. --LPfi (talk) 11:01, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Page scope[edit]

I rewrote the intro for history and to explain what I understand this page is aiming to cover, but please weigh in if the slant is wrong. Grahamsands (talk) 20:41, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Think the new text is a great improvement. --LPfi (talk) 15:15, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Shutter mechanisms?[edit]

In a recent edit shutter mechanisms are mentioned:

They have complicated light sources, lenses, and shutter mechanisms to emit a unique identifying pattern of flashes.

In all lighthouses I have visited, the flashes are caused by the lens system, which rotates around the light. That system is mechanically more simple (although optically complex), with fewer parts that can break, and light is not wasted on a shutter.

Fixed. The error was in the sentence structure, where it was unclear what was "complicated".
Still, what shutter mechanism is there? --LPfi (talk) 16:17, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Descriptions[edit]

All entries on this page are now linked to a destination, but some lack a description in that destination. Content please for Isokari in Estonia, Alappuzha Kannur & Chennai in India, Scarborough Egmont Farnes & Alderney in Britain, and Port Hope in Florida. Should "listings" on this page relegate to markers, provided they signpost the base page where that listing resides? Grahamsands (talk) 20:20, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose the first mentioned refers to Isokari in Finland. It is in Bothnian Sea National Park, which is linked, but as it lacks article, the Wikivoyage article linked to is Uusikaupunki, which has a Do listing for the park and one for a boat doing cruises to the lighthouse, and the lighthouse is mentioned in both those listings. Should one copy the description from here as a sublisting of the park? --LPfi (talk) 21:00, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
