Merge state articles[edit]

I propose to merge all the state articles except the articles for Bauchi and Gombe States. Northeast Nigeria has not gotten overly long, and there's no reason to subdivide the region at the moment and all it does is add an extra layer of regions for readers to maneuver thru. The only reason why I'm in favor of keeping the two state articles is only because they have 20 and 13 articles categorized underneath it respectively. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:57, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adamawa State also has quite a number of articles underneath it, so I too am in favour of keeping that one, but not Borno State, Taraba State or Yobe State. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 13:00, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If the states are merged, it's important to move the listings in the state articles, of which there are many, to the respective city articles beforehand so that the content is preserved. Gizza (roam) 13:20, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If we keep some but not all articles for states in the region, we will have inconsistent division of the region, and that's bad, isn't it? I would tend to oppose this proposal. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:25, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Ikan Kekek that we should not have a partial regionalization for North East Nigeria. We should either merge all of the states in this region or none of them (or come up with some alternative regionalization that covers the region with no gaps or overlap). —Granger (talk · contribs) 08:37, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
