Tema is a city on the Ghanaian Coastal Plain. It is 25 kilometres east of Accra, and had a population of 161,612 in 2013. It is the second-largest city in the Greater Accra Region after Accra. It is also the industrial hub of Ghana as well the home to the country's largest port in Tema Harbour.

There are several daily commuter trains from Accra.

The N1 Kwame Nkrumah Motorway (Tema Motorway) connects Tema and Accra. The motorway ends at Aflao Road, and continues as a normal suburban road.

  • 1 Fish Market (along harbor front). 06:00-17:00 daily, closed Tu. One thing you can do in Tema is visit the harbor and fish market where you can watch the artisanal fishermen bring in their catch with their homemade canoes, if you can deal with the stink and dirty water.
