Hello Ali Haidar Khan! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Project:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! --Saqib (talk) 16:46, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome Ali! Thanks for your edits to the Dhaka guide. It seems I'm pretty much one of the only ones around Wikivoyage who ever edits Bangladeshi articles, so it'd be great to have you around to help. I can see you're very experienced from your userpage. I did just divide Dhaka into districts; that is, into separate, smaller guides about different areas. I'm not sure if the current districts are good, or whether there should be less. I don't live there, have just visited family for a few months, so don't have a great knowledge of the place. Anyway, thanks again for your edits, and happy editing! Hello Ali Haidar, thanks for your contributions to Dhaka article. Please refrain from creating sub-sections in order to add a listing. You can use {{see}} template to get the listings inside the template. I look forward to meet you at our IRC channel #wikivoyage connect. --Saqib (talk) 20:53, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Saqib. Actually I didn't understand what you meant to say! I am quite familiar to working with templates in other large wikis but I haven't yet tried to edit or create any template here in Wikivoyage! However, I create subsections in wiki as needed for ease of editing because it is often difficult to work on wikis with a large body of text open on the editor. It is a common practice in all major wikis & there is no such rule that sub sections can not be created! Sub sections are for ease of editing when the subjects of a sections are different. However, when the enlargement of an article is done, it can easily be formatted in desired structure. If you do want to format anything, it is better to do that after the major enlargement is done. Looking forward to talk to you more often:) --Ali Haidar Khan (talk) 21:06, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please refer to Wikivoyage:Listings. Sub-sections are only allowed under exceptional circumstances, such as when a listing is complex.. --Saqib (talk) 10:03, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not entirely sure that's right, Saqib. See /Wikivoyage:Listings#Avoid_long_lists. Also, the individual listings pages (for eat, sleep, do, see, etc) were much clearer on this point before WRH2 rolled them into one page... --118.93nzp (talk) 10:47, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
