Throughout history there are various coronation processions that can be viewed, alongside the associated festivities.

United Kingdom[edit]

The United Kingdom, has had some of the more elaborate pageantry when it comes to the coronation of new monarch. Some standout examples are:-

  • June 2nd 1953, Queen Elizabeth II. Westminster abbey is where the Coronation will take place. The actual ceremony is for invited guests only, but portions of it, not deemed to sensitive, feature on Television. June 3rd is an additional Bank Holiday, giving the entire country a chance to celebrate the ascentful joy of a New Elizabethan age, after the troubled previous decade. Also, Be aware that some goods in the United Kingdom are still on ration at this date.
  • 12 May 1937 George VI, Whilst the coronation itself may be off limits expect to invited guests, the procession to and from Westminster Abbey is one of the largest seen. You can in the procession see the diverse representation of the commitment and loyalty, in the sheer number of contingents of the serving Forces, both domestically within the UK and from across the Empire. If you can find a suitable receiver, portions of the procession are on the BBC television service.
