Disambiguation maintenance function broken

Purpose

What is the purpose of this page and the Project:Disambiguation page index page? If it's just to know what pages are disambiguation pages, would looking at what links to Template:disamb do the same thing? It seems odd to use (error-prone) manual effort to keep this page updated when there is an automated way to do it... -- (WT-en) Ryan 17:40, 16 March 2006 (EST)

So that each disambiguation page has at least one link to it. Any page which doesn't have a link to it shows up on Orphan pages, and any page on that list is considered to be in trouble. Disambiguation pages aren't in trouble if no pages link to them; in fact, that's the desired state. (WT-en) JimDeLaHunt 00:48, 7 June 2008 (EDT)
