I think we can do better than "Broadway (street)"

[edit]

Good article developing, but the title seems like a placeholder. Even A journey along Broadway (à la Along the Magnificent Mile) would be an improvement. Or Times Square to Sleepy Hollow via Broadway (a bit long, but descriptive, and the contrast between the two extremities is stark). Or a bit campier, A fabulous Broadway adventure (totally not inspired by Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure...)

OK, my ideas are probably crap, but I do think there should be something in the title that informs the reader it's an itinerary and inspires them to try it out.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 17:49, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I actually wanted to name the itinerary just Broadway (but it was already taken by the disambig page) because this is one of the few streets most readers would instantly recognize as a remarkable street without any extra adjectives needed (other ones include Champs-Élysées or Las Vegas Strip). If we decide to change the article's name "A journey along Broadway" would be a good name instead of something more complicated. Ypsilon (talk) 18:10, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
You could name it just "Broadway", and move the disambig to Broadway (disambiguation). My preference would be an itinerary name, but as I don't intend to work on this article, I wouldn't push back against just calling it "Broadway". —The preceding comment was added by ThunderingTyphoons! I think just "Broadway" would make sense. —Granger (talk · contribs) 20:14, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have now done as suggested above.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:34, 8 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

w:Former New York Life Insurance Company Building looks like a pretty extraordinary building. I'll see about walking down that far someday and looking at it.

I should also add a listing for the Clock Tower/Metropolitan Life Building on 24th and Madison, because although it's not on Broadway, it's one of New York's great buildings, and its clock is very visible across Madison Square Park as Broadway is approaching and then crossing 5th Avenue. I walked down to Worth St. tonight. At least at night, that former life insurance building is nice but not incredible. It should have a listing eventually because it's a significant building with a good story, but I'm going to list a building a bit north of there tonight. As for Soho, there's one great building after another, and I need to walk there during the day and take notes instead of talking with someone on the phone while walking.
