[edit]Previously it was known as the headquarter of a district called Saran. It is 70 km northwest of Patna. First President of India after independence, Dr.Rajendra Prasad, came from Chhapra. The main language of the place is Bhojpuri and the main festival that is celebrated is Chhath Parv after six days of Deepawali.
