Folks who add external links are sometimes surprised when they are removed. If you are one of the surprised ones, please check out Project:External links which discusses what little we link to. I hope you sent this to the other guy too.
[edit]Colin: I agree that the page should be frozen cuz it's silly that it keeps getting reverted. If you hadn't noticed this "edit war" you refer to is with one particular person who keeps following me around at every page I work on. I have to justify each entry I put in. But that is fruitless since he isn't even interested in compromising even though I am. Every time I move on to another page, he's right to argue about anything I might change or update the work. But once I ask for help, all of a sudden he's no where to be found. I've actually been contemplating bringing this to the admins because it's getting really silly. However, I remember a comment you made as well which seemed to contradict the premise of the site as well. Seems like there is a different set of rules and priorities given to a bureaucrat which is not what I had read from the site's goals and policies. I would like to resolve this but so far it doesn't look like I'm walking on fair grounds. Make up your mind. If you want a select people to work on the site and have only those perspectives being shown then at least be up front about it. (WT-en) Paula 01:49, 6 January 2009 (EST)
Hi, Colin! User:(WT-en) Peterfitzgerald had told me it was appropriate to link to the specific Monterey County CVB page on the destinations within the county on the individual destination pages (such as Big Sur, Pacific Grove, Carmel, and so forth). It is the official tourist guide for Seaside, and it is funded by the city of Seaside. Please see prolonged discussion on his User Talk page. :-) As per my discussion with him, I am linking to the Seaside section of the CVB site from the Seaside page. Removal of related project
[edit]Hi Colin, Could you please explain why the addition to the "List of related projects" page was removed? FunTouristAttractions is similar to the recent addition (March 2009) of Ruba + BootsnAll, TripAdvisor and many of the other sites listed on the same page... I don't believe I have violated any guidelines for addition to that page? Thanks! —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Konget (talk • contribs) .

- Yeah under current published guidelines it should have been okay to add the site.. any idea when the new policy will be effected? Thanks. (WT-en) Konget 02:11, 24 June 2009 (EDT)
- We've established a pretty good consensus there, so I think the policy is de facto already established. It's just a matter of someone getting around to actually making the changes in the policy article! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 02:31, 24 June 2009 (EDT)
Removal of accommodation
[edit]Hi Colin,
Hope you can help - can you let me know about reverted edits (http://en.wikivoyage.org/w/index.php?title=Delhi&oldid=1188515). We're not an aggregator assuming it's not related to the External link policy. Many thanks in advance.
Removal of rental listing
[edit]Hi could you clarify please why you removed a vacation rentals listing (a site advertising private accommodation rentals in Turkey) from the Turkey page? I see you linked to a guideline on agency listings in the edit, but the affected website is not an agency, it is an advertiser for private owners. I can't find any guidelines relating to this type of site.

User talk pages
[edit]Although I agree this is obnoxious, I believe we established earlier this year (during the debacle with whatshisname...was really Enthusiastic about some city...) that users are free to keep their own talk pages as they wish. Since the user didn't change anything Peter said — just put a strike through it — he should be allowed to keep it that way, and every subsequent reader can roll their eyes at him. (WT-en) Gorilla Jones 18:43, 31 July 2009 (EDT)
- Strikes are used by users when they change their mind. So to me, placing a strike there implies that Peter had changed his mind. My only concern is with the altering of another user's comment in a way that appears to alter what the said. -- (WT-en) Colin 19:47, 31 July 2009 (EDT)
- I agree with Colin; striking out comments is different than removing them. It's not quite the same as adding "not" in front of all the verbs in someone's sentences, but it's coming close. That said, though, I'm not sure I would have bothered in this case. (WT-en) LtPowers 20:06, 31 July 2009 (EDT)
- For what it's worth... I only made the change after I got confused trying to understand why Peter changed his mind. -- (WT-en) Colin 20:12, 31 July 2009 (EDT)
- Sure, I see your point. (WT-en) Gorilla Jones 23:07, 31 July 2009 (EDT)

Rules on commas
[edit]OK, this is not the most important thing in the world, but I am a professional writing tutor and disagree with your claim that my edit in the New York City/Bronx article violates "rules" on commas. (I also don't know what you mean by "nam.") In point of fact, there are certain rules on commas - places where commas must or cannot be used - and many gray areas that amount to differences in writing style. My bias is to use commas whenever they make reading clearer. What's yours, and why do you think yours is so superior to mine that you need to impose it? The Hotel Sterling
[edit]I added a listing for the Hotel Sterling in the Monroe, Michigan travel guide at Vidimian's suggestion. Does that help? – (WT-en) CurvyEthyl 04:03, 2 October 2010 (EDT)
Extra welcome
[edit]Hello, Cjensen! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Patrolling and RTRC
[edit]Hi, just wanted to drop you a note given how active you've been on patrolling about Krinkle's Real Time Recent Changes tool, which allows you to see and patrol the flow of edits in real time (and has a neat option to only showing unpatrolled edits), the instructions are at m:User:Krinkle/RTRC-docs and let me know if you are interested in it and run into issues. Cheers, Snowolf How can I help? 22:03, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Using it now based on Peter's email. Thanks! -- Cjensen (talk) 22:04, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
Wondering about allowing this user to edit their own talk page? This would allow us to run a checkuser if they show interest in editing again. Travel Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 03:43, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- So from my perspective, I'm most interested in tamping down the drama I anticipate would ensue from allowing Alice or Frank to "discuss" the issue on site. Allowing user Alice to edit that page would provide a wedge for that to occur. I'd druther that one of the friendlier admins, like yourself, leave a message on the talk page which provides a means for private communication with the admin. Thanks. -- Cjensen (talk) 04:37, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Cjensen. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Cjensen~enwikivoyage that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

- Hi, Colin. In your case, I believe w:User:Cjensen is actually you, so all you would need to do is unify your account here with the one there. Go to Special:MergeAccount, and the rename should be able to be avoided. Powers (talk) 01:24, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Administrator status (Official Notice)
[edit]- A similar message was also sent via e-mail.
Thanks for your service as a Wikivoyage administrator. As you may be aware, our Wikivoyage:Administrators policy indicates that administrators who have not edited on the English Wikivoyage in over two years should have their administrator flags removed. This is for account security purposes, not a reflection of a loss of trust or any disappointment.
As such, we will be removing your administrator flag on 7 November 2018. Should you wish to retain your status, simply come on back and make an edit! That resets the clock. And if you ever decide to return to Wikivoyage as an active editor, your administrator flag can be restored by request.
If you have any questions or concerns, let me know.
