Welcome[edit]

Hello, Rahul Bott! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Auto patroller[edit]

Hi Rahul, thanks again for all the work you're doing. Just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account. I hope you'll continue to contribute constructively to Wikivoyage and won't disappoint us. Happy editing and happy travels. --Saqib (talk) 17:27, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Page Banner of Ahmedabad[edit]

I believe you have changed the banner of the page of Ahmedabad. You've done so stating the reason that it doesn't have specified proportions. I do not fully understand this phrase. Can you please elaborate it? While we discuss that, I must mention that the banner of CEPT Univ Campus is a slanting one, it also contains persons, which I believe doesnt't qualify for a banner either. You should have discussed on the Talk page before removing mine. Chintanvarma (talk) 13:53, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Hi Rahul, There have been discussions at the Wikivoyage talk:Banner Expedition for some time about banner format and names. I have been working on harmonizing the filenames to match the suggested format for some time, and have changed some of your uploads. As you may realize, there are several thousand files to go through, hundreds of which need to be changed, and it would appear that I am the only available filemover to to the job. Consequently I cannot notify each user before making the changes. If you read the file naming recommendation on the expedition page you may understand why a standardized format is desirable, so I will not try to explain again here. Your banner uploads are appreciated, and your naming better than many. Occasionally I make a typographical error, like for the Tinsukia banner, and I thank you for noticing and informing me. It has been corrected. The file name "Vadodara banner Palace" was chosen because the destination is "Vadodara" and the description of the picture is "Palace". If this offends I can change it to a more accurate description, but Vadodara Palace is not a valid destination on English Wikitravel, so I will make it "Vadodara banner Vadodara palace". Please feel welcome to notify me if any other name changes are inappropriate, either on your own contributions or any others you may notice.
