Direct train from tashkent to Bishkek
Is there any direct train from tashkent to Bishkek? —The preceding comment was added by MD MANJURUL KARIM (talk • contribs)
- Our Bishkek page says: "From Tashkent there is a direct train Jun-Sep, which runs once a week. It leaves Thursday evening and takes 20 hr via Shymkent and Lugovaya, continuing from Bishkek-2 to Balykchy (aka Rybache) on Lake Issyk Kul. It returns west on Saturday morning. At other times of year you have to change at Taraz or Lugovaya; there may be a very long wait."--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 07:46, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- Is that region unaffected by the corona? Otherwise I'd double check both connections and border passing – and if you are doing the trip later, you cannot be sure what measures may be in place at that time. --LPfi (talk) 13:54, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi all, I plan to travel to Phoenix, USA for a conference and the nearest airport with an affordable connection was Las Vegas, USA. I've been trying to figure out (budget) transport between these cities but so far without much luck, I don't know the region so probably looking on the wrong websites. I understand that there are issues with the transport network because services have been discontinued? If anyone here could point me to the right websites of coach or train operators, I would be very grateful! Asked by: 137.222.114.248 12:48, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Did you try all the operators listed in Phoenix#By_bus? A quick look on Greyhound showed two buses per day from Las Vegas to Phoenix - if you get the 8:25pm on Fri Mar 20 it costs $24 in economy, $113 flexible, and also from $24 to return on Mon Mar 23, which look good value for an eight hour journey. AlasdairW (talk) 14:53, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, it took some effort but I found a connection with Greyhound. It's pretty slow however, so I had preferred the train (assuming there is a reasonably good connection and it's affordable). 137.222.114.248 12:22, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- There is no train station in Phoenix. See Phoenix#By train. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:38, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- And the one in Vegas doesn't serve as a station any longer. Public transport in the U.S. isn't that great, especially not in the sparsely populated parts of the country (this includes the southwest). Going by bus, flying or renting a car are your options. --Ypsilon (talk) 16:13, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- How much extra does it cost to fly directly to Phoenix? Vegas is cheaper because it's a big tourist destination, but it's almost a 5 hour drive from Phoenix if you rent a car, and I'd imagine it'd take considerably longer if you try and take a Greyhound bus (remember you'll likely have to go into town to catch the bus). It's probably cheaper in the end to just fly directly to Phoenix, and it will certainly be less aggravating.
- You could take the Train to Tucson, and then take a short bus trip up to Phoenix. —The preceding comment was added by 72.208.128.118 (talk • contribs)

This is probably too late for anything and will almost surely be disrupted by CoViD19, but Flixbus might be active on that route... Hobbitschuster (talk) 11:18, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
Parc Astérix
If this coronavirus situation allows, I would like to visit Parc Astérix in middle July.
I assume the best way to get to Parc Astérix is to go to Paris and then travel to the park from there. I don't have a driver's licence, so driving there on my own is out of the question. Are there bus or train connections from Paris?
What is a better option for accommodation, stay overnight in Paris and commute to Parc Astérix every day or actually stay overnight at Parc Astérix?
Parc Astérix has an entry fee to get there in the first place. Do I have to purchase a separate ticket for every day or are there tickets for several days? Asked by: JIP (talk) 01:05, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- I question whether it's possible to provide reliable answers to any such questions at this stage in the game with the pandemic. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 01:08, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- See Chantilly for what we have on the park. The Get in section tells you how to reach the town from Paris. Pashley (talk) 01:23, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- The park's web site has information in English. Apparently you either pay day by day (with a discount for advance purchase) or you buy a season pass. I did not try to understand the differences between the types of season passes. --76.71.6.31 04:51, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- In general I suppose lodging in a big city like Paris is more expansive than in a smaller town, and I don't see why you'd commute unless you want to experience Paris itself. Our article doesn't list any accommodations, but I'd suppose there are also other offers than the several hotels, mostly for conferences, mentioned in the Wikipedia article. --LPfi (talk) 15:46, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- The French Wikivoyage has a quite good article on the city next to the park, with both lodging recommendations and other info. To read it you can use Google translate or some similar service if you aren't proficient in French. Sleeping in Chantilly could be cheaper than in Paris, but if the hotel is in or next to the theme park it may not be that much cheaper. --Ypsilon (talk) 16:50, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
From ELP to Juarez
What's the cheapest way to get fro ELP to my hotel 9 miles away in Juarez? Asked by: Thailen (talk) 13:09, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- The U.S./Mexico border is closed to nonessential travel for the foreseeable future. Is this a serious question? -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 23:38, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe the asker has an essential need to travel, or maybe they are making plans for the future once the border reopens. There's no need to be dismissive. —Granger (talk · contribs) 01:41, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- In the vast majority of scenarios involving what's defined by the U.S. government as "essential travel" across the Mexican border, transportation arrangements to/from one's hotel would presumably be handled by one's employer. If the asker is "making plans for the future once the border reopens", then there are way too many unknowns to even begin to guess an answer to his question: when the border will reopen, what prices will be like at that time, even whether his "hotel 9 miles away in Juarez" will still be in business when all is said and done. Furthermore, the fact that the question was asked by a three-minute-old account with no previous edit history at Wikivoyage or anywhere else on the WMF is definitely a red flag. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 02:58, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- Let's discuss this at your user talk page. @Thailen: Best of luck with your trip, and hopefully someone will come by who can help with your question! —Granger (talk · contribs) 03:12, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
Would it be safe to travel to the USA in the summer?
Asked by: 2001:14BA:88BB:5000:ED6D:54BA:3763:7F29 10:14, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- It is more-or-less impossible to tell. Also, if someone here claimed to know, you would have little reason to believe them.
- The most optimistic estimate I have seen said many businesses will start re-opening in early May & most things will be back to normal by autumn. The most pessimistic said at least 18 months before things improve much. Pashley (talk) 10:26, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Lots of events through August have been cancelled - for example, a convention I was supposed to go to in Dallas in early August was cancelled weeks ago. That should suggest something to you. Meanwhile, you didn't say where you'd be traveling from or what part of the U.S. you were thinking of visiting. But in general, I would strongly urge you not to plan any trips right now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:33, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with the others. I would not plan a vacation at this time; see 2019-2020 coronavirus outbreak for travel advice. Although Wikivoyage remains available online at this time, it does not mean that you should follow the advice of travel destination articles and go to these places. While some places (such as Florida) may open for travel more quickly than California, for example, due to the political positions of those states' governors, I would still not visit those places until it is clear that the coronavirus outbreak has ceased in those places. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 14:24, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- And don't travel anywhere before your place of origin is clear, otherwise you're risking the recontamination of places where it has already run its course.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 16:30, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
