There are two buss lines in Suðuroy: 700 and 701. Both buss lines pass through Øravík, but the buss does not always stop there. Be aware of the red letter T in the time schedule, which you can find on Strandferðslan's website Time Schedule. Line 700 starts in the south in the village Sumba and ends in Tvøroyri. Line 701 starts in the northernmost village Sandvík and ends in Fámjin. If you come by car, it is easy to find Øravík. Turn left when you leave the ferry port at Krambatangi towards Vágur, Fámjin and Sumba. Øravík will be the first village you come to after leaving Líðin (the houses near Krambatangi).
Øravík is a small village, the best way to get around in Øravík is by walking.
- Uppi millum Stovur. On your way to Fámjin you will see a sign which points to Tingstaðið which is "Uppi millum Stovur", the sign refers to the old Thing (court) of Suðuroy.
- Tjaldavík and Tjaldavíkshólmur. You can also follow the old road between Øravík and Hov, the old road starts just before the tunnel to Hov. There is a place called Tjaldavík, this is where people stayed in tents when there was Thing (court) Uppi millum Stovur above Øravík. Just outside the bay of Tjaldavík there is an islet which is called Tjaldavíkshólmur.
Go for hiking trips in the mountains around Øravík. There are cairns which you can follow. You can also walk along the road to Fámjin, which is a small village on the west coast of the island, 9 km from Øravík. You will pass by the old Thing "Uppi millum Stovur".
