Grootfontein is a city in Otjozondjupa, Namibia.

Get in

Grootfontein is situated on the B8, a major highway in Namibia's north-east. When you arrive from the north or from the east you will cross the Red Line where all meat will be confiscated due to veterinary health regulations.

Grootfontein are is on the route of the big coaches that travel between Windhoek and Lusaka.

24 km (15 mi) to the west of Grootfontein is the world's largest meteorite, the Hoba Meteorite. This tablet-shaped rock weighs over 60 tons and landed 80,000 years ago. It is also the largest single mass of iron anywhere in the world.
