Appearance
Now that Serbia is greatly diminished from its historical boundaries, Podrinje is the most westerly region of the modern Republic of Serbia and abuts both Bosnia Herzogovina and Montenegro.
Cities
- 1 Novi Pazar - a multicultural area of Muslims and Orthodox Christians, many monuments of both communities like the Church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul and the Altun-Alem mosque are found in the region.
- 2 Prijepolje - closer to the Montenegrin border, the unremarkable town of Prijepolje is the jumping-off point for visits to Mileševa Monastery, 6 km away.

Other destinations
- 1 Kopaonik National Park — major ski resort of Serbia, with total of 23 ski lifts. It also has a rich historical heritage.
- 2 Zlatibor National Park — very famous mountainous site and ski-resort in the southwest of Serbia near the town of Užice, en route to Montenegro. Zlatibor is situated at an altitude of 1000 m, and has beautiful landscapes, meadows, pastures, valleys, ethnic villages.
