Pinhel is a city and a municipality of almost 10,000 people (2011) in central Portugal, known as the "Cidade Falcão" for its castle near the Côa river valley.

During spring the almond (amendoeiras) trees blossom, especially around the town of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo.
