Metropolitan Alabama is the central region of the U.S. state of Alabama. As the name suggests, Metropolitan Alabama is home to Alabama's biggest urban area, the Birmingham metropolitan area, but also includes other towns and rural areas.

  • 1 Horseshoe Bend National Military Park - In the spring of 1814, General Andrew Jackson and an army of 3,300 men attacked 1,000 Upper Creek warriors on the Tallapoosa River. Over 800 Upper Creeks died defending their homeland.

By road

Interstates 65, 20, and 59, and US routes 31, 43, 11, 280, 78, and 278 lead into Metropolitan Alabama. This is the best way to get in.

By air
