Mühlberg is a town of 3,700 (2019) in Brandenburg, but it can more properly be describe as a quaint village with a rich history. It has a castle bought by a former president, trails along a slow flowing river, and streets made completely of cobblestones.

Get in

Mühlberg is an approximately 1½-hour drive from Dresden or Leipzig; both offers major train stations and airports. A bus also runs through the small village. The Elbe Radweg (River Elbe cycle path) passes through Mühlberg, so it is conveniently accessible by bike.

Get around

Mühlberg is a very walkable location. The entire village can be walked within an hour or so if you are not interested in learning about the various places.

See

• Schloss Mühlberg. The castle, which is next to the lake, is the most well-known site in Mühlberg. Tours are available upon arrangements with the local caretaker. 
• Memorial Rock. There is a rock alongside a trail by the river. The rock remembers the effort and teamwork it took to sandbag the river side in order to save the community from flooding. 

Marienstern Abbey

• 1 Marienstern Abbey. The single-aisled church is a Brick Gothic structure with Romanesque elements. In 1565, after several fires, it was reinstated as the parish church of Mühlberg old town. The refectory dating from the 13th-14th centuries was altered for agricultural purposes in 1820. From 1992, restoration of the abbey church and of the refectory has been undertaken. Do

Mühlberg is a great place to walk around and experience what life is like in a rural area of Germany. Many of the locals are friendly but only speak German. If you are walking late at night, be careful of group of teenagers hanging outside of a house or at the park. The undesirable elements of the community usually congregate together till the wee hour of night with their bicycles. If you ignore them, they will usually leave you alone.

As of 2021-10-18 there is no restaurant in business. Breakfast is available in Bakery "Konditorei Schaller" or in the retail markets.
