Some portions of Western ghats lie in Shimoga district. These areas are covered with rain forests. While entering such rain forests carry water, torch/flashlight, whistle, eatables and spare clothes. These forests have wild animals like tigers, leopards, elephants, gaur (Indian bison) and venomous snakes. During the rainy season, a rain coat or umbrella is essential. Mobile network of B.S.N.L are available at many places but not within deep forests. Fill the fuel tank of your vehicles before entering forest areas. Do not swim at waterfalls.

If there are Cities and Other destinations listed, they may not all be at usable status or there may not be a valid regional structure and a "Get in" section describing all of the typical ways to get here.
