Lakkundi is a small village in Karnataka state in India. It is a historical place This small village has many temples with magnificent architecture of Kalyani Chalukya, Hoysala period.

Lakkundi is at distance of eleven kilometres from Gadag town on national highway 67.Lakkundi has many temples built during the time of Chalukya, Hoysala Kings. Most of temple are in ruins. There are temples belonging to Hindu and Jain religions. Also there are stepped wells called Kalyani's in local Kannada language. These temples show the skill and mastery of our ancestors when technology was not developed as of today.

Lakkundi is a small village which does not have any facilities for stay. Gadag is the nearest town. Gadag is connected by road and rail to other areas of Karnataka.

By Road: Gadag is on route from Hubbali (Hubli) to Hosapete by national highway road 67 ( NH -67 ). Gadag is connected to Gajendragad by Karnataka state highway 6 (SH-6) on one side and Harti, Mulgund, Laxmeshwar and Savanur (Savanoor) on the other side.

There are many NWKRTC and NEKRTC buses which start from Gadag town towards Koppal, Hosapete and Ballari have stop at Lakkundi village. Alternatively one can hire auto (three-wheeler) or private car from Gadag town to visit Lakkundi.

By Rail: Gadag is a railway junction in South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways. Gadag is connected to Bengaluru, Hubli and Hosapete by many trains. Also, there is a direct train from Mumbai CSMT to Gadag ( Trains 11139/11140 ) via Pune.

By Aircraft: Hubballi (Hubli) airport is the nearest aerodrome to Lakkundi at a distance of 71 kilometres.
