Burauen is considered to be the Spring Capital of Leyte due to its numerous large rivers, namely the Daguitan, Marabong, Guinarona, Malitbog, Hibuga, and Matagara Rivers. The town is also famous for the Mahagnao Natural Park where the scenic Mahagnao Lake and Malagsum Lake is located, where you can enjoy birdwatching, kayaking and other watersports. It also has several hot springs, the most famous of which are Calor (near the Mahagnao Lake) and Maiinit (in Barangay Anonang).
