is a town in West Bohemia, located in the northwestern tip of the Czech Republic.

Aš was probably founded in the 11th or 12th century. Historically it was also called Asha, ash, Aska. The name of the city comes from the German name of a fish, the grayling, which appears in the city's coat of arms. The city was stronghold of the textile industry towards, in 1834 the first jacquard weaving machine was manufactured in Aš. Since the end of World War II there has been no more economic development.
