Eastern Australia refers to the eastern jurisdictions of Australia and encompasses the following regions:
- Queensland
- New South Wales
- Victoria
- Tasmania
- Australian Capital Territory (i.e. Australia's capital city Canberra)
- Jervis Bay Territory
However, the term can be ambiguous, pending the following reasons:
- Queensland is not always considered as "eastern", and sometimes Eastern Australia can only mean the jurisdictions that use AEST/AEDT time zone (New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and two other territories).
- South Australia is also sometimes considered to be part of Eastern Australia as Adelaide is considered to be one of the four state capitals of Eastern Australia.
- Sometimes Eastern Australia only refers to mainland states and territories, so Tasmania is sometimes not counted
