Parque das Nações, Lisbon. Portugal Fernando Botero é um pintor colombiano, nascido em 1932, na cidade de Medellin. Suas obras destacam-se sobretudo por figuras rotundas, o que pode sugerir a estaticidade da humanidade. Há de se perceber uma crítica social, especilamente no que diz respeito à ganância do ser humano. Nos anos 50 estudou em Madri, onde acrescentou os mestres espanhóis a seu interesse por arte pré-colombiana, colonial espanhola e pelos temas políticos do muralista mexicano Diego Rivera. Sua primeira mostra foi em 1951, em Bogotá, mas sua formação para valer teve início em 1953, quando ingressou na Academia de San Marco (Florença), para estudar técnicas de afresco e assimilou algo da arte renascentis |
