Summary
DescriptionCopper Kettle Pub (Wheeler's General Store), 517 Main Street, Glen Williams, Ontario, Canada.JPG |
English: Copper Kettle Pub (Wheeler's General Store), 517 Main Street, Glen Williams, Ontario, Canada
• The Copper Kettle Pub was originally built by Charles Williams, of the Williams family that founded the village, as a general store. • There is no documentation as to its exact date of construction however, the brick work on the store is of a similar quality and style to that of Charles Williams' house which was built in 1856. Although owned by Charles Williams, the store was run first by W. Watkins and later Ruffus McCrea. John Wheeler ran the store from 1883 and eventually bought the store in 1909. It remained Wheeler's General Store, serving as Served as the local general store and post office until 1972. • Good example of a commercial building with excellent decorative brickwork |
