Les vestiges du portail du palais Ak-Saray de Tamerlan Le palais Ak Saray, qui signifie le palais grandiose (blanc, noble), a été construit entre 1380 et 1396 essentiellement par des artisans en esclavage venant des pays soumis par Tamerlan. Il n'en reste que les vestiges des deux tours du portail d'entrée (hautes à l'origine de 50 m) sur lesquelles s'appuyait une voute de 22 m de large. Les chroniques décrivant le palais indiquent qu'il était impressionnant avec des décors raffinés, à base de dorures et de mosaïque dans les tons bleu et vert. __________ Située à 100 Km au sud de Samarcande, Shahrisabz est connu pour être la ville natale, (ancien nom Kesh) de la famille de Tamerlan (Amir Timour). Pour rendre hommage à sa région, il fit construire un mausolée pour son fils où il voulait également être enterré mais également un très vaste palais appelé Ak-Sarai |
